Sunday Morning Open Recreational League Team Entry only 9:30-11:30am

If you are looking for a relaxed, social, and less-competitive atmosphere to start your Sunday,  this recreational league is for you. Welcoming all skill levels and genders, it is the perfect place to meet new friends, enjoy the sport, and transition from beginner to regular club player.

Whether you are a brand-new beginner, a casual couple, or a seasoned competitive curler, this league is for you. We focus on FUN, fair play, and helping everyone improve their game.

League Format

• Teams are arranged each week based on who attends, no spares are required. 
• Players are able to play different positions on a 2, 3 or 4 person team for two 6-end games each week, depending on how many people are playing.

Sunday Little Rocks and Junior/Bantam Curling League 3:30pm

LITTLE ROCKS: This developmental league introduces children to curling, focusing on sportsmanship and fundamental skills. Our alumni have gone on to compete at provincial, national, and world levels.

JUNIOR/BANTAM: Whether you want to learn a fun sport to enjoy for life or dream of competing on the national stage, this introductory league is for you. We focus on developing curling skills, building great sportsmanship, and having fun with friends. Our alumni have gone on to compete at provincial, national, and world levels.

• Little Rocks Ages:  8–11 (born on/after Jan 1, 2015). Age 7 accepted with an on-ice parent volunteer.
• Junior/Bantam Ages:  (Ages 12–21; born between Jan 1, 2005 – Jan 1, 2014)
• Open: Any gender 
• Skill Level: All levels welcome (Beginner to Competitive)
• Registration Type: Individual. The convener will create teams each week, as applicable
• Capacity: 24 participants
• Fees: $154.87 per player plus applicable taxes

Jumpstart your week with this Monday league. It is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy great curling during the day. It features a welcoming atmosphere open to all ages and any combination of genders.

Welcoming women curlers of all experience levels, this daytime league is designed for fun, friendship, and fair play. Because it relies on individual entries, it is an incredibly welcoming environment to meet new people and enjoy the game in a relaxed, social atmosphere.

League Format

Why play Doubles? It is a fast paced, six end game and in each end only five rocks are thrown per team. Curling Canada identifies it as the fastest growing part of our sport.  Team members must work together to plan the curling shots and take turns with throwing and sweeping. Many Doubles curlers comment on their enjoyment with the format and their active role in strategy, teamwork and the variety of shot making.

There are some rule differences from traditional four person curling: positioned rocks at the start of each end; a different free guard zone rule and the optional power play option once per game. If you would like to learn about the rules, Curling Canada has the current rules posted on their website (see Mixed Doubles). The graphics illustrating rock position are super helpful.

In Doubles, there are options for where each curler is positioned at the time of rock delivery. Some players prefer to throw the rock and then move into position to sweep and the line is called by their team mate in the house at the other end of the sheet. Other curlers prefer to throw the rock and their Doubles partner is positioned at the hog line, ready to sweep and the line is called by the curler who threw the rock. Both players may also sweep. 

Games are scheduled on Wednesday evening 5:00pm. A well played doubles game takes about 75 minutes so one can be home before it is too late. Doubles is a flight format, with Divisions A, B and C and our season is divided into three draws: Week one through til Christmas Break and then January, February and then the final draw to season end. The flight format provides for adjustment at each break, with the top two flight teams moving up one flight and the lower two teams moving down one flight. Playoff competition is held in April to determine the championship team. 

Teams can be registered with two members.  If you cannot make a game, please arrange for a spare curler. You might invite another league player to step in or check the Doubles spare list. It is required that a spare must be a regular league member (not an associate member).  

Wednesday Night Men’s Recreational Individual Entry 7:30pm

Welcoming men of all skill levels and ages, this individual-entry league is designed for pure recreation, fair play, and community. It is the perfect environment for newcomers to easily learn the game and for experienced curlers to enjoy a social, fun night on the ice.

The Friday afternoon open recreational league is perfect anyone available during the day, this league is all about social play and community. It is a fantastic opportunity to stay active, meet fellow club members, and enjoy a great game of curling followed social time and drink in the lounge.

• The season consists of 2-3 draws and teams are assigned by the convenor based on skill level.  Every effort is made to balance the ability and skill of each team.
